My dad has a Gibson Hummingbird that I grew up playing. It feels like being home when I play it, and I can't say enough about it. I have seen an Epi version of the Hummingbird and even got to play one at Guitar Center. It played verry much like dad's Gibson and had an amazing tone as well. For the price I can't see any reason not to buy it.
Have any of you had an oppertunity to play or research the Epi hummingbird? If so let me hear what you think.
Thanks Zac

Zac..Thanks for the review....I've been looking for an acoustic for a while and was torn between the Hummingbird and the Dove...Now maybee I'll give the Hummingbird another close look.....At the local guitar store they have two hanging side by side Reddish Cherry(don't know the proper colour name)and a red with a natural top....Going back to take another look and hopfully bring one home!

...Hey tekrek......
...do me a favor...take a tape measure with you when you go to the store...verify the neck scale on both guitars........
...the Epi catalog and website says they both should be 24.75"...short scales.........
...I just sent back a Dove NA because it had a 25.5" standard neck scale.........
...it may not matter to you...I would just like to see what you get...thanks for your help.............

No problem. That was just my 2 cents worth. Go play those two and come back and give us a real review.
Thanks Zac

hcoll....... ;D Well I just got back, sorry no tape measure, but we did come up with a 12" ruler and did the flip flop thing to measure the scale....As near as I can tell the hummingbird is 24,3/4" scale,we measured three times with the ruler and came up with the same measurement all three times, sorry there was no Epi dove left in the store for a comparison.....only a Gibson, and didn't feel right to drag a ruler over it...Now back to the hummingbird, amazing tone, beautiful finish and suprisingly low action, not like most acoustics more like an electric.....Now I am no expert by any means, in the last few weeks i've tried out just about every acoustic in my area, in the $500cdn price range and at just a hair over $400 the hummingbird is my choice. Boxed it up,put down a deposit to hold it,and picking it up in aprox. 2 weeks ;D ;D ;D I also just got a call that my new MXR overdrive pedal is in.....thats been on order for EVER..... Where am I going to come up with all this $$$$$$$ Looks like KD and tube steaks for the next few weeks LMFAO ;D ;D

I hope your new Epiphone Hummingbird does well for you. I'ts been my experience that the maple bodied Epiphone Dove, has an edge on sound, but that's just me. One thing you should do with your Hummingbird, is have the plastic saddle and nut replaced some day, with a bone nut and saddle with a proper set up to your liking. The sound improvement is worth it.
