I've been contemplating getting an acoustic to mess around with and I know absolutely NOTHING about acoustic's - heh same could be said about electrics.
Anyway, I know there are many you can get for under $200 bucks but are there any clear frontrunners out there?

If you look at the web site of www.music1323.com they might have the Epiphone you want. But if you can save some extra bucks, and buy the Epiphone DR-300 Jumbo in sunburst finish, you can't go wrong with that model.

Musician's Friend currently has the Washburn D100 dreadnaught for $129.99 -- and they used to even sell 'em for under $100! Gold tuners, made well, easy to play, and fine tone. I bought one years ago at Mars Music for nearly $200.

The Epiphone AJ-220S is a truly wonderful guitar. It's easy to play and sounds great. It has a solid Sitka spruce top. Fit and finish is first rate. Street price is $199. I own one.
