First off, Hello to all and nice forum .
I recently checked on the Epiphone LP classic's prices (specifically the quilted Vintage Sunbursts ;D, I love that finish!)
I remember that not too long ago they were $399 at AMS and MF. Now they jumped up to $499. Anyone have any idea why?
It makes me really regret selling my old Epip LP Standard (stamped 2nd but it played very well for the price, an amazing bang for the buck guitar).
Anyone have any insight about places that have used Epiphones( classic quilts being 1st choice) for sale besides ebay? Or even B stock and 2nd guitars besides the BIG usual guitar sale sites (MF,AMS,M123,ZZ,etc).
Thanks for any help.

I started looking for mine about 6 months ago. (trans blue quilt top) ;D At that time they were $499.00 US. Before that I had not priced them. But I could guess at it if you want. Just look at em, they are beautiful. It stands to reason that the demand may have gone through the roof after the first few runs.
Now for the insider info lets ask Smooth. He is one of our board members that works for Epiphone.
HEY SMOOTH!!! Can ya field this one for my friend here?
p.s. you may try samash.com if you have not already.

Zac, thank you very much for the reply. Your Trans blue quilt is an amazing looking guitar, the black speed knobs look better with the blue than the stock amber looking ones. Nice touch. I think I'm going to have to just use some patience and see what I can find used down the road for a Epi LP Classic. Or at least until the big chains get some dent and scratch models in stock. It's great that you have some inside Epiphone support here on a smaller forum. I know there is the Epiphone official forum, but sometimes too many opinions from high traffic is not always a good thing! Thanks again -9.9

I bought my quilt top from another board member named Ol Geezer. He saw a post that I was looking for one and was nice enough to sell me his. The black speed knobs were his mod, but I agree with you, they look better. And thank you, I think it looks amazing too. It plays almost as amazing as it looks. Patience is a virtue. ;D And yes haveing Smooth around is great. There are a few others on here that are quite an asset to have around. I won't mention any names, don't want them to get the big head. And finaly. Yes the official site can get a bit out of control. ROCK ON Zac

that is one sweeeeeet axe zac. desgribe it to all of us. Ok I will. Epiphone Les Paul Classic Mahogany body and set neck Carved quilted maple top Trapizoid pearloid inlays Two designed by Gibson stock open coil humbuckers Vintage off white stock epi kluson style tuners and binding of the same color( kind of a blue tint ) Tune-o-matick bridge and stop bar tail piece Two tone and two vloume control black speed knobs Tranlucent blue finish No pick guard thus no holes "After re-stringing and strobing the guitar with Dean Markley 10s and just a little bit of tweaking the action, I must say she plays like a dream. Absolutely no fret buzz, amazing feel and tone with a very fast neck and a fret board that bites the string when you hit a note. I must say this is a very well made guitar. It has no pick guard thus no holes for one, which to me is a plus. The finish looks a bit more greenish blue in person which I also love. And on the back of the headstock there is a limited edition stamp. To quote Noeljob "this guitar will go to the grave with me because you won't be able to pry it from my cold dead hands"."

I'm keeping my Sunburst one, which I got first, but I'm really glad Zac was able to get the blue one from me and likes it so much.

That's great that there are no holes cosmetically on your quilt classic. Even more important is no cracks in the finish around the factory guard holes. On the standard 2nd that I had, the finished was chipped and cracking around the hole. It was minor but people are usually very picky about their guitars. It made me put the guard back on to hide it. The guitar was black so it didn't standout that bad, but just enough to irritate me. As much as I liked good old Angus's playing, the SG shape doesn't do it for me like the Les Paul. It's something to do with having a substantial "piece of wood" in your hands. It's the same with the skinnier studio models as well, they sound nice but just too small for my taste. Thanks all for the help. I think I'm going to end up playing "ebay roulette" and see if I can get a good one.
