Well, I’m the proud owner of one seriously, drop-dead, gorgeous, very black, Epiphone Sheraton II!
I had tried one of these about 8 months ago and really wasn’t impressed. Yesterday I stopped by the local store where the owner is a friend of mine. I wanted to play a Gibson Studio I had tried before but he had already sold it. Anyway, he had just received a ton of stuff in time for Christmas and showed me three very nice Sheratons. One was a Natural finish, the other an Antique color like my LP and an Ebony. I helped him tune them up and got to play on all of them. The Natural and Antique were pretty much like I remembered the first one I tried and they really didn’t float my boat, if you know what I mean.
Ahhhhhhhhhh but the Black one! I fell in love as soon as I started to play it! One very strange thing is that it was lighter than the other two and I have no explanation for that… so please experts, feel free to chime in here. The other thing is that it just FELT better all around. The action was nice and low and very easy to play. Very nice sustain and a well setup neck right out of the box. I was ready to pull out some plastic right then and there, but didn’t. I decided to play it another day and see if I felt the same way about it.
My friend called me at work today and said if I wanted it, he’d give me a very special price. With that motivation, I went back and played again today and brought her home. What’s incredible is that he gave it to me at a lower price than what Musicians Friend is offering! Let me explain that these guitars are over $700 in stores down here in Mexico, so you can see what a great deal I really got.
I love everything about this guitar with the exception of the pick guard, which has to be the ugliest thing I ever seen screwed on a guitar! I’d appreciate your help with the serial number so I can know when and where it was made. # I 03090990
