I definatley have to play with both of them, the pickups on my '03 LP Standard are just amazing. On clean the bridge pickup has that nice twang to it, the neck pickup is really warm, and when the switch is in the middle, thats my definition of "the Les Paul tone."
Distorted, the bridge pickup has a real nice bite to it, the neck pickup is smooth as butter, and with the switch in the middle, you get a real nice mixture of both, but in the middle i usually turn the volume on the neck pickup down to about 5 or 6.

Most of the time I use the bridge with the tone rolled to 6-7 and the volume around 8-9 to get a nice tone for rhythm that still cuts through. Occasionally I'll go to the neck for rhythm, but I mainly use it for leads full on. Sometimes I'll go for the bridge to lead on, but not near as much.

i voted rythm pickup only, but of course i do switch from time to time. it's just more of the neck pickup.

I mostly use the bridge pickup. But I have a few songs that I play in the middle spot with both. And if I want a good ol muddy bluse sound I go neck. Its mainly the way I set my sound coming out of the amp that dictates what puckup I play on, but this is the way I do it most.

I play hard rock, so I do use the bridge pickup most of the time. For smoother or more crunchy sounds I put down the volume control to 8 - 5 and bringing it back to 10 gives me my lead sound. I only use the neck pickup for doodling around at home when I jam to blues stuff, or on some recordings for leads, even in metal or hard rock songs. But I voted treble/bridge pickup.  |

bridge. i set my amp settings t 3 1/2, m 7, b 8, on my twin reverb. guitar settings are vol 10, tone 10.
