Does anyone here have any idea what tuning Joe Walsh(?) is using on Rocky Mountain Way? I`m trying to learn some slide guitar tunes, and I can`t get this one out of my head. HELP!? Jim

Does anyone here have any idea what tuning Joe Walsh is using on Rocky Mountain Way? You can see him playing it on the new Eagles DVD set, so maybe from looking where the slide's at (or when it's not on the neck at all) and finding that same pitch you can determine what key he's open-tuned in, at least. My guess is traditional open-G (DGDGBD). What chord's he on in the second measure? That's the tonic. All I know is that he always seems to use that same old Rickenbacker to perform it (I saw him do it on a Drew Carey show too).

According to the August 2005 issue of Guitar World. Guitar 1 and 2 are tuned to standard. Guitar 3 w/slide is tuned to Open E (E B E G# B E).

I just got done watching a re-play of The Eagles Farewell 1 Tour and they played Rocky Mountain Way. I watched Joe carefully as I could. He was tuned to Open E on his Rick, he did however play a different guitar during the solo where he used a Heil box.

I wondered if anyone else caught the broadcast -- I noticed it was being re-aired too late to post a warning.
