Well not really... I am part of a scout troop and every scout has a 3 minute presentation to do every year, and I played guitar as mine. I used my EPI FAT-210 and a Washburn BD12 amp. I played a bit of a smoke on the water, seven nations army, opening of crazy train and thunderstruck. It went well I guess.... except that my face goes red if I play infront of other people... grr... Do any of you guys have first performance stories? PS: Wow I managed to post this even though all the button icons arent working!

Now the buttons are working again, I experienced it also that some elements of the site were not displayed for a while , but what the heck... ;D The memories I have about my first gig are that I was about 14 or 15 years old and me, another guy who played guitar as well and our bassist (he is still with me after over 20 years...) had the same music teacher. We rehearsed in a cellar of a catholic youth club and he tought us simple stuff like blues patterns and simple structured rhythm and blues songs. He used to play the drums from time to time. One fine day he showed up saying "next week you guys have your fist gig! On the summer party of our youth club!" Wooohoo, we were pretty nervous but everything was very nice, we had a good sound (it was open air also and we played our 4 or 5 songs we practised for this gig. The people liked us until I insisted to play "Smoke on the water" ...lol, hehehe, everything went wrong and it was quite a cacophony...lol, but still the people loved us! Hehe, I don´t need to mention I had a red face also in the end when we decided better to cut this funny version of Smoke on the water very short... lol ;D

Well my band just started off, and our first gig is on June 19th, its going to be at a memorial for these 2 people who died in my town, so we better get real good, real fast! We already wrote 2 songs in 4 days, so its going pretty good.

I used to sit back and play rhythm real low with my dad's bands since I was old enough to keep up. But the first time I got shocased so to speak was in Evant Texas at the local fire station. I was like 14. My dad's band had set up in the firetruck garage and all the people in this small Texas town turned out to hear them play. Well I sat in and did my usual background thing. Then the ol man turned to me and siad "you do one". Ok so I break into voodoo child focousing on my playing and not the audience. Well the band was right there on time and it went smooth but I still don't realise the audience. The song finishes and I do a little out-tro lead to top it off (real simple compared to now days) and its the first time I even noticed the crowd. They were having a fit, I mean flatt raising hell and chearing and whistling. I guess I stood there in aw all wide eyed for like 15 to 30 seconds and it felt great. Thats when I caught the stage bug and it never went away and I hope it never does.

My first in front of people was at our family Christmas party. My uncles all played, and they let me sit in on bass. They showed me when to change, and what to change to, and away we went. There was noone in there when we started, so I didn't feel self concious. When the song was over, everybody at the party cheered before I looked up. It was a warm fuzzy moment to be sure. The first time for the guitar was at a pep rally my theater class did the entertainment for in high school. We did skits, and such, but the big Finale was "Shook Me All Nite Long" with a re-write on the words. Once again, the cheer from the crowd(500 or so) as I hit the first notes gave me the warm fuzzies, and I realized that I would always desire that again, so I got into a band, and have never looked back.
