Hey all. I'm a guitarist first and foremost, but I gig on the weekends with a country/classic rock band, and I play bass for them. My rig is a Fender 5 string Jazz bass played through a Carvin 600 watt "Cyclops" combo. What's everyone else playing?

All I have for the days I feel like getting a Bass out is a Fender Frontman 60B.

When it comes to bass amplification I only say: "SWR!" ;D Just my opinion.... SWR rocks...

Recently our bassplayer´s 500 Watts Trace Elliot head broke and it is still away for maintenance and repair. So we had to borrow a spare head from a band we are friends with and guess what... We borrowed an old Music Man Seventy-Five full tube head and it was a nice surprise. Amazing tone, full of character, of course a little bit flat chested concerning the output power but it had one of the nicest sounds I ever heard from a bass amplifier. I consider the Music Man head to be very alike the old Fender Bassman heads. Anyone of you might have heard about those amplifiers? Are they really close alike or do the old Fender Bassman heads sound very different or are they in fact different technically? The only thing I have to say: Vintage tube amps rock! ;D

Well all I know is when Leo Fender left Fender he started a new company ....Music Man. So its no surprise the amp sounds like a bassman. Probably a clone off the originl by the originator.

Since Leo started Music-Man after his Fender days, I'd be willing to bet that it was his idea of perfecting the Bassman, as Fender/CBS had more influence from bean-counters than tone-eared technical people, hence Leo's departure. Good on ya, Steel, Tubes ROCK

that's hard to say really, because my bass and amp combination is different from yours and i've never played through your set up. i like to think in terms of both guitar and bass. _____ California CrepesSan Diego Catering
