Hey all,
Just scored tickets for the Cream reunion concert for Tuesday night (25th) at Madison Square Garden. Let's just say that I am totally thrilled! A once-in-a-lifetime (well at least every 37 years!) opportunity.
Anyone in the forum get a chance to see the show(s) in London in May? I just got the DVD the other day and haven't stopped watching it since. BTW, Clapton plays a black Strat---no red ES-335 or Firebird in sight.
I'll be curious if they play the same sets here as they did at the RAH or if they mix it up a bit. I know there is a bit of controversy over the fact that they did not play "Tales of Brave Ulysses" in London.
Anyway, a full report after the show...
Dennis.

Hi Dennis! I bought the Cream DVDs just last week, and enjoyed them very much. I did wonder if he'd swap the Strat for a Gibby some time into the concert, but well, he was good enough with the strat... I was also disappointed that they didn't play Tales of Brave Ulysses, but didn't think about any longer. Too bad I can't be there for the MSG gigs, but in fact my sister is flying to NYC tomorrow morning, so I told her to go and see Cream at MSG, it's a once in a lifetime thing, you know? but she just said no, not interested and just after arriving it would be too much. So what, I even tried to convince my mum that she absolutely MUST see Cream live, after all she's the Cream fan in our family, it was she who put me on Cream. but no time, no money. Too bad. Tell us about it tomorrow! Have fun!

Dennis, that is quite the score!!!!! Where is the review? I last caught EC at the Pepsi Arena in Albany during his `01 World Tour. Previous to that I hadn`t seen him live since Woodstock. Hope you had a great time. Jim

Hey everyone;
Sorry for the delay in posting back the review...
Let's just say that the concert was everything I expected it to be-and more!
Being that I was fully primed based upon watching the RAH Concert video the entire weekend before, I was not expecting too many differences. For the most part, it was pretty close to the London shows with some noteable exceptions:
-The playlist was the same, except for the insertion of "Tales of Brave Ulysses" about the 6th number in. Clapton brought out the wah pedal (something I didn't see him use in the video) and the place went nuts! (He also used it on "White Room" as well).
-Jack's bass was phenomenal-he alternated between the red Gibson and the Warwick fretless (just as in the vid). Where he really was great was in his vocals-he sang with great passion and put on a tremendous performance-again not as evident on the video.
-One signature Cream trait was maintained-the solos (especially Clapton's) were all completely different (he really let it rip on "Stormy Monday"-ironically the only non-Cream number). GB's "Toad" solo was quite a bit different as well.
The crowd was great-they were from all over the country (I was embarrassed that I only lived 30 blocks away!) A lot of fathers with their teen aged kids, BTW.
They finished in about two hours (including the "SOYL" encore) and everyone went home very happy! I can't wait for the show in 2042!
Dennis.
PS: Even though EC played a black Strat (actually two different ones), I had heard that the Gibsons were "in the rack", but they never made it on stage-too bad!!!

;D Dennis, thanks for the review. Very good coverage of a big event. I only wish i could have been there. Let`s see now ...in 2042 I`ll be a spry 80 years young, still rockin`, but not in a chair. See you there, man.
