;D Hi pals, the Priest is back again, lol! Hmm, my last band split up surprisingly some weeks ago, what was quite a shock for me. Now that I have sortened some things out, it is time for me to look out for new musicians. I haven´t made my mind up either to join a band that has a program and gigs, or to establish a new band of my own... Hmmm, this second option seems very tempting, especially when I think of a cover band... But it will be difficult to find suitable musicians. Anyway, each time a band falls apart you stand there with empty hands, and everything you worked for, spent your money and time on is lost... this was one of the most bitter experiences I made, I was so mad I even thought about calling it all a day and stop playing guitar... But now I feel better and want to make music again. Hm, I´m in my late 30´s... so I think a cover band would make sense, find some guys that have the same ideas and rock on... Steele.

hi steele! GLad you're kind of over it by now. i think a cover band is always tempting, just playing the kind of stuff you love anyway. but many guys I know don't really like that kind of thing, seems they dont get enough of a kick out of it. i don't really know, but hey, it's a start. one can always go on from being a cover band to doing your own material, if/when you're ready. only problem is to find the right people to do it.
I wish you luck! Hope you'll find something nice!

Damn this is strange. Here is the advice you gave geezerpete one year ago today about his band splitting up. I hear you Geezerpete. I could tell sad stories as well... You have been working and playing with each other for years, you had been partying, boozing and shared dreams together. Then somewhen, sometimes all at sudden, everything changes, and people who considered each others as friends or even brothers (in my case we also celebrated christmas, etc. together, *sigh* ) become enemies, in my case even sued each other (for songwriting credits, bandname, etc., we had just signed a record deal!). But I guess this is known to almost all of us who played in bands for quite a while. Musicians are emotional people, often there are (too) big egos to be found, and we all seemingly found wannabees that only talk but have not much to offer to a band. Even the smoothest of us has suffered several temper tantrums in the past concerning co-musicians, but that´s the way it goes sometimes... My belief is:"Better be finished with some pain in the ass than being in a band that turns out to be horror without end" BTW I agree with JoMan. Go with what feels good to ya right now. If it,s covers or originals it can always grow , change or have a blast with covers. But the right people make it a band, not the material. Zac
