My trusty ol' hunting partner and family companion, Jake, is about out of gas. For those that don't know, Jake is our 12 1/2 y/o black lab who is failing. Today, I had to physically move him from spot to spot outside. He couldn't even stand and eat...instead he layed on his belly and we put his food, boiled burger and white rice, on a flat plate so he could eat it.
I know I already posted about jake but it seems his time is numbered in days now. I can't stand to lose my faithful companion and hunting partner. There may be more labs in my life but there will never be another Jake.
I just hope he doesn't go too close to my son's birthday which is Sept. 9. The poor kid already says that when his b'day happens he remembers the twin towers. This would be another bad vibe.

flyv....my deepest condolences to you. Sorry I brought up a bad subject for ya. 15 years is amazing for a large breed like labs. God bless!

Dan, flyv, I feel terrible for the spot your in. I know exactly how you feel though. I had to put down my Irish Setter, Brandy, after she gave my family and I fourteen loving, faithful, unselfish years. It was like losing one of my children. After awhile we did get another dog, but there`s no replacing our Brandy. My heart is with you. Jim
