I found on the last post that there were so many guitarists that I love who I couldn't consider the best. This is the spot for that. My list (still can't have just one) of guitarists I can listen entranced for hours, or will cease all other contact with the world when the solo comes on: David Gilmour Mike Kinsella (from the bands "American Football" and "Owen") Mark Cole from the New Orleans band Charge, who plays an incredible hendrix/srv tribute www.chargeworld.com/originals2.htmDuane Allman, who could vie for the best of all time

The guitarists I listen to the most are Stevie Ray Vaughan and Brian Setzer. So I would have to say they are my favs.

Again too many to mention them all, someone who really blows me away is Akira Takasaki of the japanese band LOUDNESS, oh gosh... this guy is totally over the top. His style is a bit like Eddie van Halen´s but with a more metal background and faster. Ever heard about him? He is the one I really like the most... My personal influences are different, but Akira Takasaki is almost god-like!

I've actually been really impressed by several Japanese guitarists, including a classical guitarist from the early 20th Century, who wrote one of the most beautiful, not to mention impressive classical pieces I've ever heard. Sadly I forgot the work and name (I heard it played at the University of Arizona's classical guitar undergrad competition), but I'm still searching.

there are so many. i like buddy guy. my fave is angus, but i think malcolm is better. dave navarro comes to mind. im out of my favorite stage so to speak, i just like a well rounded solid guitar player. rhythym guitar to me is a little more important than lead, now i can shred it up and kill it but w/ out a good solid rhythym theres just something missing. i also really like chuck berry. man i could go on forever, but i wont. enough said.

Tough to pick only one, there are so many that are great..EVH, SRV, Jimi, Slowhand, Carlos Santana...etc.
But the ones I can really just groove to over and over...Pagie, and Michael Shenker. Shenker may be an ass as a bandmate...and certainly not in Pagie's class as an all-around guitarist....but his solos are incredible!

If I didn't first mention Jimmy Page I think the skies open up and unleash a fury of biblical proportion! So there, Jimmy Page!
Way way too many others that I admire to list them all but I will mention Frank Marino and Marc Knopfler (sp?)

Would be Gary Moore, Scott Gorham and Brian Robertson. Hmm, all are former lizzy guitarists, weird... They have been most influencial for me. But sure, there are so many others too.
