I definatley have to go with Jimmy Page. He's one of the reasons why I play guitar. He just understood music and all the aspects of playing guitar so well. His playing is just amazing

Oh, this is a tough one.. I'll never be able to give a definite answer.. I can't judge in the terms of 'best' guitar player, but my favourite one would be Pagey. It's either him or Hendrix, extremely hard to decide for my part Ok, voting Page. Go Page!

There are so many out there. I voted Page, but I can think of several more and then you have to throw in the different styles. Page and Hendrix were always pushing the envelope....looking for new sounds and styles. How about Steve Howe. No on e ever talks about him..but I've always thought he was incredible. Ever hear of Leo Kodke on the 12 string ?...have never heard anyone do the things he can do. Best guitarist...always has been and always will be a tough question that's hard to answer. Someone once asked Jimi Hendrix who he admired as a player. He mentioned a guy by the name of Billy Gibbons who plays with ZZ Top. So...I think its really a matter of what flavor do you like.
by the way..MERRY CHRISTMAS again

I voted for Page because of all that Led Zeppelin has done over the years - many different styles that most bands couldn't pull off. Granted he didn't sing and play at the same time like Hendrix, but songs like Heartbreaker, Rock and Roll, The Battle of Evermore, Stairway to Heaven, Kashmir, Black Dog etc. etc. just blow me away.
Of course there are tons of great guitarists out there - Joe Satriani, Yngwie Malmsteen, Steve Vai, and Michael Angelo to name a few of the current virtuoso/shreder types. And everyone else mentioned is great too ;D

From this short list I voted for Randy Rhoads. He was a true innovator in the world of Hard and Heavy Rock. He had a recognizable tone and outstanding techniques. He really offered new dimensions back in the day. I dare to say he had an enormous influence on lots of players during the early 80´s. Guess what he might had given to us if he didn´t had to die at early age. All the other players in the list are worthy as well, but as a metal/hard rock player I voted for Randy.

I think Gary Moore is one of the best, not with the stuff he does now but when he played with thin lizzy. I have a DVD with a lizzy concert with gary, and it is unbelievable. But i like all lizzy guitarrists. oh, if you didn't know, this is my first post. I just registered here. I play mostly thin lizzy, it feels so good to play the solos (my other guitarrist dont play solos, he only plays with me on the twin guitar riffs). If you havent tried lizzy, pllay along on cowboy song or waiting for an alibi. By the way, there is a nice little forum you got here, hope i stay here long.

Oh yes, Gary Moore used to rock back in the day. He is one of the best, that´s for sure. I played some Lizzy songs, too, with former bands. "The boys are back in town", "Are you ready", "Johnny" and "Hey you". Thin Lizzy is one of the most underrated bands in rock history. I liked Scott Gorham alot! This guy used to look so cool...

Yes! I finally get some understanding! Me and my former band"Chicken Fists" used to play alot of lizzy. My favorites to play are "waiting for an alibi" and "Cowboy song". I have allmost all songs on cd's and play along with them at home. But my band didn't want to play it anymore. It's kinda cool to play with cd, but its fun to have an other guitarrist to play the other tunes on the riffs. And yes, Scott Gorham rocks, and he allways had the best looking les pauls.
