I am stuck here at work for a large part of this truly American holiday. But it looks like I should be getting home about the same time the turkey comes out of the oven. ;D I had only a snack for breakfast, as to make room for all that turkey dinner later this evening. My wife invited everyone over to our house this year. So I will be up to my waist in relatives, most of which are in laws and some of which are outlaws. So its lock the band room and hide the silverware. Keep an eye on my brothers inlaw so they don't get too drunk and fight out in the front yard. Chase down the dog after my father inlaw lets her out as he tries to sneak into the back yard to get stoned without my mother inlaw catching him. Apologise to the neighbors for my cousin's hellion kids wrecking their flowerbeds. Clean up after my wife's Aunt Sally's yapping little flea bag yorkie, that she carries around everywhere with her in her purse, only to let it out in my living room so it can pee and crap cheetoe size turds behind the couch. And try to be polite to everyone just long enough to get soooo full of turkey and dressing that the triptophan nap renders me oblivious to all but their departure from my house until next year.
You know, it's just your typical Thanksgiving, a truly American holiday. ;D
Happy Thanksgiving Zac

Lol, Zac! Hehehe... It must be nice to have such a Thanksgiving. This tradition is not known here sadly enough. Drunk brothers-in-law fighting in the front yard, what a wacky imagination... it made me have a good laugh! ;D Well, but I know what you mean, some people can´t handle alcohol, and if they have too much situations often get out of hand. So one needs to have an eye on them. Hehehe!

So one needs to have an eye on them. Hehehe! I wouldn't change a thing if I could. That being said, Thanksgiving went pretty smooth this year. Nothing was dammaged or taken from the house. No drunken fights between Mutt and Jeff. The dog never got out. Can't say about my Father-in-law, but he did look pretty festive when he arived. Never heard from the neighbors. Aunt Sally's dog died last June, so no doggy cheetoes behind the couch. I did however eat more than a healthy dose of turkey and dressing, leading to a triptophan <sp? indused nap that rendered me useless for several hours. There was a bit of drama here and there but nothing major. All and all, a good meal and a good time had by all. Zac

As a paramedic, I worked Thanksgiving, the 4pm to 2am shift. Nice extra money, and we all gathered around the table for the turkey.
Now that its over, I cant wait for Xmas and my new Vintage SG!!
And people....please be careful this holiday season. On Thanksgiving Eve, we had a DUI related death. Please do not drink and drive, and be alert for those out there. And wear your seatbelts!

i have a question: what do you americans do to try and wake someone up? you know, you speak to him, you touch him and then you do somethin to hurt him. in austria we pinch them on the back of their hand, but i've been told that they do it differently everywhere in the world.
are you working for the red cross or something? or a government kind of thing?
