Well I'll be going to good 'ol guitar center tomorrow to try out some guitars and buy another cable for the wah pedal im getting on monday. The main reason im going is to try out a Gibson SG Standard, to make sure I like the sound and feel of it, because Im planning on buying one ;D Ill try out as many guitars through as many amps as I can, and write some reviews on them!

Alright Ive finally got some time to sit down and talk about the guitars I played. I only played SGs while I was there, all different kinds. The service at guitar center was pretty nice, everyone there knows me so they said hi and asked me if I needed anything. I asked for a nice cable, so they got me one and I was off to try some SGs. Well heres the reviews. All the guitars were played through a Marshall AVT150 combo, and I played only 1 through a DSL50 half stack. Gibson SG Special Faded- Yes, the finish is crap, but at least it sounds pretty nice. The ebony neck feels pretty good too, the pearloid dot inlays look alright, its REALLY light and the frets are pretty nice. The pickups are pretty nice (490R and 498T), overall its a pretty alright guitar to have, but definatley not the best Gibson out there. Gibson SG Special- Not really different from the faded, except this one has the good finish and a rosewood neck. Gibson SG Standard- I really liked this guitar! It is probably one of the easiest playing and nicest feeling guitars out there. The finish is superb, the neck feels amazing, the frets are perfect, the inlays are beautiful, the 490R and 498T pickups are awesome, clear as a bell on the clean channel, and they have a ton of bite on distortion. When you play single notes, you can really hear the tone start to come out. I spent quite an amount of time playing past the 12th fret on this guitar. You can also see the beautiful grain of the wood through the finish on the body, and all the way up the neck to the top of the headstock. Its a little heavier than the specials, but definatley not as heavy as a Les Paul. I think I've made my desicion on my next guitar and finally... Gibson SG Custom- Let me just say this, If God had a guitar, this would be it!! I am so surprised they had one of these on the floor there! Playing this guitar makes you feel like a million bucks. The pearloid block inlays on the ebony neck just look so great, I had to stop and stare at it for a moment. Same with the split diamond inlay on the headstock, just a thing of beauty. The neck feels soooo nice, PERFECT frets, and out of all the guitars I have EVER played, this one had the nicest tone I have ever heard! The 3 '57 Classics just sound so amazing. I just really wish I had $3000 in my pocket!! well thats all for this edition of supedupvipers reviews

Very nice review. Thanks for your input. ;D I did the same test of the epi Pauls a few months back but didn't have the presence of mind to make mental notes while I was playing them. But I will say the ZW Paul was one of the best playing and sounding. Between the rest, they all had pretty close to the same wonderful warm tone. Playability and finish were the only differences. I have to say I would take any of them. There was this one Gibson Quilt Top Les Paul with a trans wine red finish, that I just had to play. Hands down it screamed "whos your daddy?!" at all the epis. But for just under 5 grand US, it damn well should. ;D
