Hi Hcoll
3 hours to mow the grass !!! Where do you live in a national park !!!
I know from visits to the US that as well as all the appartments in the cities, there are some major properties all over your fine land, but 3 hours, blow that for a laugh!!!
I live on an estate on the outskirts of Dover, I have a nice back garden which seems to have become the property of my Dalmatian, mainly grassed, it takes she that must be obeyed 45 minutes to do ours. She won't let me do it because I "don't do it properly !!!"
I'm quite lucky really, as I work real hard more or less 7 days a week, I have learnt that if I "don't do it properly" most home jobs considered a male chore are dealt with admirably by her indoors !!
Could be that she loves me and knows when I'm tired ?? .............. No she wants the job done properly.

...chrisgrimes................
...you may be on to something there...getting things properly done...............
...actually I probably am on the slow side...plus I take a lot of water breaks...this summer heat & humidity around here is something else...remember...this was built on a swamp off the Potomac....................
...supedupeviper...........
...3 to 4 hours of Led Zepplin...yikes...do you come off that tractor wired...don't get me wrong...I like LZ too...but not that much..................
...just checked the local news...they were right...traffic especially coming up from the south ground almost to a hault yesterday afternoon and evening...they were advising people that it would be easier to come back during this morning's commute...nobody listened....................

My monday was sweet Got my LZ tshirt in the mail, went to town.. what do I see? A girl in an LZ tshirt just like mine.. I don't think I have ever seen anyone with any LZ garment before, weird coincidence.. I went into a local CDshop, looking for Muse - Showbiz.. So I walk in, and there's a line.. and the guy in front of me says to the cashier: "Do you have any Muse? I'm looking for Showbiz.." another weird coincidence..

Hey All...I worked the night shift for 5 hours, drove through a downpour to get home and then spent the rest of the day sitting on the bed playing my D18. Not a bad way to spend the "holiday". We don't grill so it was pasta night here! BTW Chris Grimes...not everyone in the US has large pieces of property. It really is proportionate to where you live, how much you can afford and when you purchased your property. I have 1/3 of an acre or so which is the biggest yard in my neighborhood but which is considered small for this area, CT. Takes my son about 20 minutes to mow the front and back yards both. My wife does all of the other yard work...she enjoys it which is good for me since I hate it! I do the rest of the house maintenance, paint, repairs etc. Works good for us!

...anybody notice that once we get to the Summer Solstice...July 4th...the days seem to just slip away so fast...all of a sudden...it's Labor Day...the kids are back in school...summer's gone.......
...maybe it has something to do with the days getting shorter...maybe there's more to it than that......
...old people tell us that time speeds up as you grow older...sure hope this doesn't mean I'm gettin' old...but it's something I've noticed more and more over the past few years...think it has more to do with parenthood.......
...any thoughts on how to slow this madness down........

It's true that once you have children, time does slip away quicker, I guess it is because you judge time by their birthdays, first/last day at junior school, graduation from high school, first boyfriends/girlfirends etc...... I cannot believe that it is almost 7 months since I was clearing up the house after yet another Christmas Day excess and it's only 5 months more or less, till the next one !!
Wierdsley !
Hey I know you aren't all blessed with gardens the size of the prairies.......... Over here, there is enormous pressure on people to tie themselves up with bricks and mortar, from an early age you have it drummed into you, save, save , save buy your own house, you need a big garden !!!
That's fine, you start work and almost all your money goes on your house, when you are 60 it will all be yours !! You can then let your kids have it and they will probably sell it for a huge profit !!

...every neighborhood has one...the perfect lawn...the perfect garden...no weeds...one set of flowers starts to die off...another set starts to blossom...all summer long...there's one in my neighborhood...lives right next door.....
...too bad they have a slob like me for their neighbor...I'm lucky if I keep the grass mowed...the shrubs trimmed...watered so it all stays green...the best I can do is plant and grow tomatoes...peppers and...onions...salsa...goes good with beer.......
...my neighbor starts with seeds in dixie cups on trays under grow lights during the Winter...then...the seedlings are transplanted in the Spring.....
...I'm sorry...I have other things to do with my time...like playing guitar......
