;D Man guys...just got back from a GREAT show. Saw the Dead and the Allman brother's at the Gorge ampitheatre on the Columbia River...I amstill in awe of the ampitheatre. Set in a river gorge that looks like the grand canyon. You walk over this huge rise and look down and see a river gorge about 3-4 miles across. below you is a steep perfectly kept grass slope going down at least 200 yards to the stage which is monstous and looks like its on the edge of a cliff just before a quarter mile drop to the river. All of this is in the high plains desert of Washington state. The view from the seating area was nothing short of breathtaking. The acoustics were absolutely perfect. For sound I don't think there was a bad seat there. They could easily seat 50-70 thousand people. Probably more. The music was great. Warren Haynes was playing with the Allman brothers and they played for better than 2 hours. The Dead came out after that and played for 3 hours themselves. Warren Haynes came out and played with the dead also. Hearing Bob Weir, Warren Haynes and Jim Herring weave guitar melodies it was sooo nice. Reminiscent of the Grateful dead when Jerry was in his prime. Had to share guys..great show, 8 hr concert experience (wore this old man out), best live music I've heard in awhile and absolutely the best music venue I've EVER seen. If any of you ever get up to the northwest US, You have to check out some music at this ampitheatre. You won't regret it. A definite must see.

I have a couple of albums we keep here in the office, Eat the Peach and Brothers and Sisters, 30 years old and still sounds great.

Man I have heard some great thing about the Gorge from some of my roadie, and road dog sound man friends. I would love to see a great band like the Allman Brothers or The Dead there.
One of the best shows I have ever seen was The Allman Brothers Band with Little Feat opening up for them. The Venue was so so. Six Flags Ampitheatre in Arlington TX. But Little Feat AND The Allman Brothers! OMG! It left me with an afterglow that would not quit.
I saw The Allman Brothers once more at the (formerly) Starplex Ampitheatre (one of the better venues around here,,,now the Smirnoff Music Center) with a much bigger production and a big psycodellic light show. Again it left me in aw.
