...hey dennisobell.............
...thanks for the compliment.............
...let's make sure everyone understands where the SG stands in guitar history...originally in 1961 it was the new/improved LP...Lester William Polfus didn't like the looks of it either...made Gibson take his name off it and temporarily ended his relationship with Gibson over it.................
...the SG's a good guitar...but it's just a teenybopper when you compare 1961 to the Telecaster (1950)...the LP (1952)...the Strat (1954)...the Dot (1958)...that's a lifetime in that fad-strewn era.................
...something else about the Dot...it comes fairly close in concept/design to Lester's original 1940's creation...The Log..................

You're welcome, hcoll. Ooops, my bad! The Dot is one of the best axes under $400, provided that you are right-handed! I checked several online retailers and found that a lefty Dot carries a $15 premium over a right-handed one ($414 USD vs. $399 USD@ MF). Luckily, however, both MIM Fenders fit under the "cap" (although they used to charge +$40 for their lefty versions!). Dennis.

I just got a Guitar Center booklet in the mail and in it they're offering an "exclusive" Dot Deluxe vintage sunburst with flame maple top and gold hardware for $399.99. We have a winner!
