Hey all.....
Got a wierd post here. I want to know if anyone here has done any music video work. Has your band done one? Or, have you played a role in one? Did you do camera work, editing, lighting, etc? Maybe you know a good resource.
Reason being is that I want to do one but am running into some trouble and want to talk about it. In my spare time I run a facitlity that does video to DVD transfers and editing. But now, I want to do some work for myself. I have almost everything I need....except the knowledge and no how to actually do my music vid's.
Any help here would be much appreciated.....

i once did something for a german production filmed down in austria. it was a pretty bad "song", if you can call it that. i guess not even steelpriest will know it. it was called "ricerco" by boosha pro. but i was about 10 years old when I did this.

I have directed a few shorts(for school projects and the likes), also done most of the camerawork(DV cams), all of the editing, sound production, some lighting and some acting(bad, bad, bad acting that is )..

A fellow band that has their rehearsal room just right next door to our´s did a video most recently. They had a porper recording of the song and put together a video of faked live sequences (they invited a small crowd of people to a local club, put up all the gear and pretended to play live while the crowd was very close to the stage and cheered for them), and other short clips that were filmed in different locations. All in all it is a very nice clip, almost professional. You can watch the video here: www.full-dynamic-range.de/html/music.php All in all I must say I would love to do such a video as well, but it takes alot of knowledge concerning video editing, etc. ... I fear if you you just borrow a video cam and try it yourself without having any knowledge the outcome might be more an unintentionally parody than a proper video clip... ;D

I have the editing gear. I built an entire suite just for that purpose....oh...well making some money too...lol. For video editing I run - P4 2.53 Ghz Computer 1.2 G RAM 1 80G HD for software 1 120G HD for media DVD Burner CD Burner NVidea GForce4 MX420 w/ 64MB RAM Pinnacle Studio 8 w/break out box (SVideo, component, left& right audio Ins $ Outs) 2 SVHS Decks 1 8mm/VHS combo deck 1 8mm reel to reel video machine 1 Super 8mm reel to reel video machine 2 Digi 8 camcorders I can take almost any video format in, edit it all up, and put together a DVD or VHS tape of your footage complete with custom audio, titles, sub titles, and menus. I make a decent bit of side money with it. My problem is not in editing, but with ideas and shooting. I have a few conceptual ideas for the song...and I doubt I want much crowd stuff (cool in its own right but very over done). I have some ideas for using some stop motion video (like seeing your hand move lit by a stobe light), a little sephia effect (old movie/ red filter), some bizarre screen shots to pop up on certain cues (almost like subliminal messages) and some shots of my singer surrounded in black. It's a dark song....so thusly, I see a dark video. BTW, I watched that bands video. Some really cool ideas. Really liked the shower scene..... Really tho, the effect of her make up running and all that was sweet. Very European. Not a bad thing, just very European. Dig the song too..... Brandon
