I've been living lean and meak ever since I got married (6 months ago). I used to buy toys all the time. Mid month paychecks (about US $1400 all together) never had any bills attached so I would buy toys. Guitars, amps, computers, recording gear, R/C Aircraft, and everything in between.
Now....well.....I got a guitar for my birthday last month. Oh....and I did use some wedding money for my MArsahll JCM 2000 TSL 100 + 1960A halfstack.
However, now, well, I'm poor. Money comes in, as well as bills, and money goes out. But hell, at least I'm getting some debt taken care of. Credit cards no more. Student loans.....no more. Car payments (both).....no more.
Money in my pocket.......NO MORE........ ;D
The one thing that keeps me going is my wife, whom although is making me pay things off, is by my side. Oh...and I know that one day SOON I will have my pocket money again. We figured it up and it will take only 6 more months.
Stick with that budget man. It WILL pay off in the end!!

Hi Brandon
You are right about "her indoors". They have a far more practical approach to life, even more so when the children come along...... I have the devils own job trying to get my good lady to buy anything for herself, all out extended family have stopped giving her money for her birthday etc as she is guaranteed to spend it on the kids !!!
Is your wife into music ?? If I'm playing the guitar indoors, mine is fine if it stuff in the charts, but if I start on the funk and "tear the roof the sucker!!" I get ....... Hey Chris, why don't you take that thing upstairs and use your headphones !!
Despite that..... I love her !!

Bit of development
My son has really taken to the LP !! I wanted him to be interested in the guitar but would not dream of pushing him. He had a couple of his mates home after school and my wife said it was a posing contest in his bedroom, they also got out my old Squier Strat and the standard tele for a band pose (they are not allowed to touch Dot.
One point, how do you guys (especially the younger ones) cope with the weight of the damned things ?? My lad is only 13 and still quite slender build, he prefers to play/practice standing but I am worried his shoulders will collapse, dread to think how much a gibbo LP weighs ??
Kind regards Chris - UK

Ah yes.....I know the "go in the other room" bit. I get the line when I'm playing heavier than she likes stuff too. She does like what I play as well as what my band plays. Very nice.
As far as LP weights, by Epi's weigh in around 9 lbs. But my Norlin era 71 LP Custom weighs in close to 12. Try a 4 hour gig with that on! Youwouldn't think 3 pounds would make much of a difference, but I tell you what, it certainly does!

Brandon
4 hour gig, your audience sure do get value for money !!!
I've sort of given up getting it back of my lad, he's keen as mustard on it and it now lives in his bedroom !!
Rest of you guys, what's the longest gig you have ever played and what's your biggest audience ??
I ain't going to set no records, best so far is 2 hours (in 1 hour splits ) in front of 650 folks at a charity concert in the local soccer stadium !! (capacity 1000 !!)
