Hi all
Yesterday the UK was gripped by lottery fever, no winners for 3 draws so prize was over 20 million GBP, stores crammed with people of all ages probably convinced this was their week !! Statistics prove that you have more chance of getting struck by lightning whilst crossing a busy road than of winning a major prize but still they go for it !
Got me wondering, how many if any of you have ever won anything in a draw, raffle, competition etc, I believe there are about 100 of us on the site so it would be interesting to see how statistics pan out.
Getting the ball rolling my only win (other than occassional success with betting on horses) was GBP 100.00 at a hospuital fete, the cheque had to be re-presented because they hadn't notified the bank of the new treasurers signature.!! This was 20 years ago and was the down payment on a ropey pa system for our band which split a week later !!

I won only smaller amounts of money, not really worth metioning... But of course still I play the lottery each weekend hoping for the big win...  Lol, what would I do with it? Hmm, buy a nice house, built up a studio, buy some guitars and other tahn that, I´d stay pretty much the same.  |

When Windows XP was introduced a few years ago Microsoft had a contest and I won the full version of Windows XP Pro that I am currently running.
I have won small amounts of cash, and stuff like shirts, pens, etc. Nothing major though.

Don't get me wrong
I do spend a whole pound each Saturday and get a "lucky dip" ticket (the computer generates 6 random numbers) never won even the minimum 10 gbp, but it's a big conversation piece here "Oh it wouldn't change my life if I won a million, I'd still work and the kids would still go to the state school !!"
Blow that it'd sure change mine, pay off the house, car etc and spend real time with kids and her indoors which is hard to do when I'm always at work, like I am now clearing freight trucks through the port on a Sunday afternoon...

The only thing I've ever won was a Fergal Sharkey LP. Rang up a radio station and answered the question ' What record label was the Undertones first single released on?' The LP was a runners up prize, didn't even win the main one  My mum managed to get four numbers in last nights lottery, she won £40.  |

How's it going up there, it was mayhem in the huge Sainsbury store near me, at one time over 100 people queuing for a ticket!! bad tempers all round.

Everythings great up in Leeds. She was convinced she'd won. She had a couple of lines and thought she had all the numbers. She ended up with 3 on one line and 4 on the other. So close.

Nice to see there is another non American/Canadian posting (nothing against them, some of my best friends are American etc etc....) I'll keep my eyes open and say hello when you post. Lets see if we can get some UK based topics going.

Lets see, the only things I've won were a "Gatorade Jams" CD, a set of Michael Jordan collecters cards, and a Gatorade CD case, all from drinking bottles of gatorade!

Last summer I won a little over $12,000. In the lottery... ;D After about 4 days of turmoil-What to buy I guess I did the smart thing and bought GIC bonds and put them away for my daughters education..So in about 4 more years when she goes to college, I'll give it to her.

Heres one for you guys...Sitting down? My buddy who Ive gone to school with since the 1st grade won $10million in the lottery here in Ontario at Christmas time. It wasnt me but it couldnt get much closer...

I won Carlos Santana's "Supernatural" CD from MP3.com when it came out a few years back. That's about it.
