We have one brand of beer from overseas here that really made it big in Europe, at least in Germany... It´s Foster´s! Yumm... I really love it, though brewed in Germany under license it is made with australian ingredients. Our female lead singer imbibes this stuff and introduced it to me and all I have to say is, it is among my favorite brands, very smooth and mild in taste...

Hey Steelpriest
I heard on the radio last night that Budweiser is going to be the official beer of World Cup 2006, how can that be when you aren't allowed to buy it in DE ?? I guess they are just selling it in the stadiums and then once outside you can enjoy real beer such as Budvar (the Grandfather of Budweiser ??) etc.
Should my lot make it to 2006 I am planning 2 weeks off to come over and visit !!

What? We aren´t allowed to buy Budweiser? ;D Another hoax after the cardboard affair..., no buddy, Budweiser is available in any good beer store in Germany. But there is obviously a big difference between Budweiser and Budweiser. The Budweiser we have here is the original one and up to this day brewed in the Czech Republic and imported to Germany, lots of czech beers are imported to germany. The famous Budweiser from the U.S.A. is brewed to my knowledge in the U.S.A. either under lincense or they only licensed the brand name and the beer is totally different from what we know here. But in any case: Budweiser is officially available here and ever was.

Hi Steel
Thanks for clarifying the situation. When I went to the US (they claim the home of Budweiser but I disagree) the stuff they mainly sell is only about 3 - 3.5% proof, not worth getting out of bed for, I like mine to be at least 4.9 - 5.2%
I aim to visit CZ one day and will definately want to visit Plsen!!

We got ahold of a sixer my friends dad either brought or smugeled back with him from Germany. There were 4 of us and 6 beers and we almost came to blows over splitting up the last 2. I know our BUD pales in comparison but I still like it just fine. I also see my beloved Shiner Hefeweizen got an honerable mention. (Loves it) ;D I also like the Guineeeez but can't drink them every day. And ahhh yes Fosters Austrailian for beer. Good stuff.

I tend to go more for ambers but my likes (and they change frequently)
Alaskan amber dos equis (both types) negros maderos corona's newcastles i'll even drink rolling rock
me and a buddie dis alot of testing this last week and tried some wheat beers heifenweisens and such, alot of these up here in seattle I've started calling them "ass beers" well....because. we both started calling them that so the term stuck, after EXTENSIVE research...they all seem to taste that way. May need more research gotta be some reason there's so much of it around...must be a good one somewhere

Living down here in Mexico, I get to drink some pretty good brew.
Like someone mentioned, Dos Equis (XX) is good, especially the amber. Another two that I really like is "Indio" and "Pacifico". Pacifico is especially good in the very small bottles that really get ice cold.

When speaking about about mexican beer, I have to say I totally forgot to mention that I love tequila flavored beers like Desperados alot. Not knowing if Desperados is really a genuine mexican brand, the one available here is brewed (or better "mixed", hehe) in France. It´s very refreshing and in addition to the tequila there is also a bit of lemon taste in it. I prefer this drink ice cold. ;D Yummm!

I've never seen Desperados on the shelf here in Mexico but it does sound tasty! Although lately, a lot of canned pre mixed drinks have popped up so you never know.

Hehe, we even have a Desperados counterfeit called "Sombreros" lol... on the lable of the bottle are two mexicans with their typical hats and at least one of them is swaying a guitar beneath a giant cactus... lol ;D

Oh yeah! That's a hard cultural image to shake! I guess most would think we have cactus growing everywhere and at a certain age, a couple of guys in Sombreros are hired to sit underneath! I guess it's like the image of the Frenchman with a black and white striped shirt or an Englishman with an umbrela and bowler hat!

Yesterday I had to imbibe a genuine english beer. NEWCASTLE BROWN ALE. Yumm, it was very refreshing with a mild taste and I liked it alot. I wish the friendly english pal who handed it to me can get me some boxes of it soon. Also the bottles were slightly bigger than our standard german ones. 650 ml of tasty NEWCASTLE BROWN, a typical german beer bottle embodies only 500 ml.
