Living in Colorado lets me have tons of choices, as there are at least one hundred independant breweries in this one state. Narrowing it down is hard, and my preferences constantly change, so here is the run-down at this time of beers I like to drink while playing my guitars. CO Beers ( from FAV to least FAV ) Beer (style) Sawtooth Ale (Bitter) Twisted Pine (Red Ale) Single Track (Copper ale) 90 Shilling (Scotch Ale) 1554 (Brussells Black Ale) Widdershins (Imperial Stout) International Beers (imported here) Guiness Extra Stout (Dry Irish) Chimay Grand Reserve (Tripple Abby) Celebrator (Dopple Bock) Spaten Optemator (Dopple Bock) Paulaner Oktoberfest (Martzen) Pilsner Urquell (Very first Pils) Grolsch (Pils) This is in no way, shape, or form a complete listing, as I find a new gem to try at least once a week around here, but I've touched on the most important to me. Now, let's here from some of you guys.

To cut it short, though I am german and Germany is famous for beer and it´s great variety I absolutely prefer lots of czech beer brands also. Favorite czech beers: Pilsner Urquell Staropramen Pils Budweiser (the original brewed in the Czech Republic) Branik Premier (Pils, Lager and Black Beer) Favorite german beers: Krombacher Veltins ...not to forget a big variety of bavarian strong beers (Bock beer) ;D Yummm...! ;D Playing guitar and having a beer... what could be nicer? That doesn´t mean I always drink when I play, lol... too much drinking while playing is not the best advice! But in any case I love beer!

Question for SteelPriest
Hi man, One of my colleagues has just returned from Munich (He had to do a survey for some gear we are shipping to the Far East) He has returned with a variety of 6 packs, I have 2 here, Lowenbrau which I am very fond of and a new one on me Warsteiner (even my [poor German can translate that it claims to be the King of Beers !!)
I'm going to try these guys tonight, is this one that needs to go straight in the fridge for a day ??
By the way, my own favourite is bottled (not canned or draught) Stella Artois, brewed in Belgium, we do a lot of work with companies in the Netherlands and they refer to Stella as Elephants P**s !! I don't agree, guess relationship between BE & NL is a bit like us in GB and Ireland !!
Give me beer everyday, kids over here are crazy on these Alco-pop things, mixture of Bacardi or Smirnoff with all sorts of fruit juice, probably explains why are soccerfans are so "welcome" abroad !!

Hi Chris! Well, it means "Queen of beers" on the Warsteiner cans or bottles. Hehe, yes Warsteiner is very popular here, to me it tastes "too mild" a bit sweet, but in any case it is a premium brand... Of course you should do them in the fridge, in any case! We germans always drink cold beer out of the fridge... Löwenbräu is a very traditional bavarian brew, they have lots of different beers. Also strong beers and Weizen and Hefeweizen, yumm... You are right with your comment on relationships between Belgium and the Netherlands as far as I can say as a german, but obviously they don´t like each other that much in general. Hehe, if your pal comes over more often to the continent he should try in any case Heineken Pils from the Netherlands and the german brands "Veltins" and "Krombacher", also highly recommended are strong beers from Bavaria by the name of "Salvator", "Kulminator" (brewed by the Kulmbacher brewery, and "Einbecker Urbock", but be careful with those... lol, a six pack of those can knock a strong man down... lol! ;D P.S.: I definitely prefer "bottled" beer, "bottled" means fresh, canned beer is always made durable by pasteurizing and it takes away lots of the original taste and quality of a beer...

HI Steelpriest
Thanks forn the info, couple of hours to go, dog walk, bath, select guitar and march to the fridge. I don't much care for "sweet" tasting beer so Warsteiner may not make my favourite list.
On the subject of strong 6 packs, I once foolishly hammered through 6 Duvals (Belgian headache in a bottle !) they were so cold and totally wonderful, the after-effects still frighten me to this day.
Best Ones Chris

The Warsteiner was excellent, all gone..... for a 4.90% beer it has plenty of flavour and a little afterburn, I saw them off during the course of last evening, had the house to myself so had the luxury of not having to use the headphones.... after the sixth I had developed waht I term "fat fingers" damned guitar just won't do what you tell it to, bit like having a typewriter that can't spell !!

My normal state relegates me to the $5.50 a twelve pack of Pabst Blue Ribbon, which is actually one of my favorite domestic cheapo beers. Like my taste in guitars, I favor something which seems better than it really is.
As for other cheap domestics, my step up of choice is Coors, though I'll dabble in Miller if it comes down to it.
I'm a big fan of the Shiner Heffewisen, but I'm a stout man at heart, so Guiness from the draught is my favorite, though Murphy's gives a hell of a kick and is even more potent. I envy those of you in Europe who from all reports apparently have it waaaay better than we will ever see in the New World (though I must say Canada has put out some wonderful beers). Ty

In a slightly related issue, a local blues dive bar "Boondocks", which features a tasteful 15 foot concrete wine bottle as one of its exterior attractions recently ran a special for the "Chet Atkins diet". It featured a pile of fried food and a pitcher of beer for a pretty decent price, and aside from the pitcher of beer (unless it was "lite" beer) it probably was actually Atkins friendly. Ty
