And I thought I would give you a review on what I played.
Gibson SG Standard (played though a Marshall AVT150)- Very, very nice guitar! The bridge pickup sounds nice with the treble and midrange knobs turned up, and the neck pickup sounds pretty nice, not as smooth as a les paul but still very good! The neck is pretty nice, not too fat and not too slim. The only thing I noticed about it is that the frets were somewhat high.
Angus Young SG (played though a Marshall AVT150)- Not at all what I expected. It is pretty much just a regular SG standard with a vibrola. To me, the angus young bridge pickup didnt sound much different from the SG standard bridge pickup. But on the plus side, it had a really nice neck! Very nice rosewood with beautiful inlays, and the frets seemed to be just right.
Les Paul Studio (played through a Marshall JCM-2000 half stack amazing amp!!)- not very different from an Epiphone! It was just about the same witdh as my Epi LP standard plus, and weighed just about the same! The 490R and 498T pickups sounded just right, and the neck was pretty nice. All in all, I wouldnt spend the extra $500 on this over an Epiphone.
and finally...
Epiphone Casino (played through a Marshall AVT150)- Amazing guitar! I played the new 2004 with the new designed by gibson p90s, and it sounds really nice! Sounds beautiful on the clean channel, and nice and bluesy on overdrive. You cant push it hard like a les paul or an SG, but then again its not really meant for that. It also sounds good unplugged! Great guitar for the money!
