Appears to be a regular Heritage Cherry Sunburst finish. It looks to me that the lighting has made the color look odd, but is just a cherry finish on the back/neck.

Some of these other guys on here are better at number crunching than i as far as fair price. I would recommend trying out some 2003 or 2004 models if for nothing else the upgraded Grover tuners that now come on all LP STD's.

Smooth is right, the newer Epis come with Grover tuners and also with improved (and really better) pickups. Don´t know the prices in the USA, but 415 $ for a used/almost unplayed with a case seems to be a fair price, but maybe you can find a brandnew one with better tuners und pickups for a couple of bucks more. 415,00 $ are about 375,00 € meanwhile, a new Epi Les Paul standard is available in Germany for about 498,00 €. Hmmm, if you only got 415,00 $ go for it, it seems to be a good deal, but make sure the additional case is at least in a decent condition. And try to knock down the price to 400,00 $...

My computer is dumb so the picture didn't come up (yes it's my comp, and no there's not really anything I can do at the moment ) On a lighter note, that's a huge discount if you don't mind the older model and kluson tuners, and lefties are generally hard to come by. If you get a good deal on a new one (2003-2004) it would come out around $550 righty, maybe with case, so $415 sounds good. You could always ask to play before paying so that you know that everything checks out alright too.

I could buy a brand new G400 left-handed for that price .... What everyone think about the SG-copy ?!?!?

An SG is not a bad idea. SGs are light, easy to play, concerning the used hardware and pickups it should be equal to the Les Paul. But if you buy a brandnew one insist on the current improved model with Gibson designed humbuckers (they are really amazingly better) and Grover tuners. In the end it´s all a matter of taste. An SG 400 is a very nice guitar, the Les Paul is nice, too. Choose whatever you like, but be prepared a Les Paul will weigh alot. The SG should be more comfortable to play, also it provides easier access to the higher frets.

Any advice how to identify a "new" sg ?
What should i check on the serial # ?

I don´t know exactly when the "newer improved" guitars started being manufactured. But the serial number usually starts with one or two alphabetic characters followed by lots of digits. The first two digits should be either 03 or 04, so the guitar is from 2003 or 2004. And those newer guitars carry a sticker on the pickups that say "New Gibson designed humbuckers" And they have Grover tuners, the older Kluson style tuners were the ones with perloid/plastic tulips. They looked better in my opinion on a Les Paul or SG but were by far not so well made.
