Woohoo ;D! I got the cable and its awesome! I saved over $300 by using this free software rather then buying the FX board. Now all I need to do is get a cheap computer to use as it! I also found out that I can get crystal clear sound outta my speakers when I hook up my guitar. All I had to do was plug it into the mic hole. Wah wah is one of the best effects ever!!!! ;D I just wish I could turn the speakers up, but we have company. I urge you all to buy a cable adatper 1/4 to 1/8 and down load it now! Its the best!

About noise: Note that Microphone Input of any sound card has much more bigger noise than Line-In input, so if you pluged your guitar into Mic Input you can have big noise. But this software ( GuitarFX.Net) has Noise Gate, so you must select it and use it, noise will be removed!

Seeing as your an experianced user of GuitarFX, could you help me with a few problems I have been having?
My first problem is, I downloaded the few thousand free presets from the site, I put them in the preset folder but they will not and refuse to show up inside guitarFX.
My second problem is when I record something it doesnt always save it... and when it does its saves it in a file my computer can't recognize (windows XP) It asks me to select a program from the list but none of my media players are shown.
Thanks

h-m-m-m, I have Windows XP too with SB Live and SB128. PRESETS folder works for me, one note, immediatly after you put presets into folder you must go to GuitarFX and select "refresh list", then after drop-down list will be, click again on refresh list (1 place), or restart GuitarFX. This works for me. But I recomend go to guitarFXsoftware.com/show.php - this is a list of 2000 presets, don't download all, but look into list and seek for presets with human names like "metallica distortion" etc. It seems only presets with human names were good souned and interested for me, other -noises only. Also, note that 90% of presets need to be right "Gain" and "noise gate" tuned, coz people have diferent guitars with diferent signal levels and different sound cards with different tunings... Recording: all works fine for me, I use Windows Media Player 8 and 9 (freeware form http://www.microsoft.com) - all works Ok, no problem. Try to download and install it from www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/9series/player.aspx

If you installed RealPlayer over WMP 9/8 you MUST have the problems you explained, RP intersepted some systems requests to play wav files and kills playing of recorded wav, I highly recomend to re-install WMP 9 again!!! Also re-download and re-install the GuitarFX too coz you can have old version may be with error.
