Mornin' All! New member, signed on here because of all the probs with the Gibson/Epiphone boards. Hope it gets a little busier here, doesn't seem to be much going on at present. I have two Epis, Sheraton 2 and Tak Matsumoto LP, couple of Strats (MIA and MIM) and a Washburn WI66, Schecter C1+, Agile AL2000. Been playing since the early 60's but very much self taught so nothing to brag about. Lately I've been picking up licks from CD's to keep myself practicing, using GuitarPort to slow things down. Located in Upstate NY, near Poughkeepsie ("Wot's a Poughkeepsie?"), turned 60 this year and I'm sliding gently into retirement, hoping the spouse won't notice! Alex

Just joined, 1st post here. I see some familar handles from the Epi forum. Hello to all, short bio stuff -- 56, always had a guitar but never learned to play it. About 2 years ago, I decided to fix that. Still can't play, but I'm having lots of fun taking lessons and talking to everybody I can. I currently own Epiphone EB-0, Dot Studio, Les Paul Standard, Riviera, Elitist Byrdland, Elitist Riviera 12-string; Gibson SG Junior, Billie Joe Armstrong, Blueshawk, ES-137; Fender set neck Telecaster; Martin DR, Eastman AR-800; Marshall VS65R, Fender Pro Junior, Ultralight Jazzmaster, Frontman 15B, (2) Vox Brian May Recording, and AD120VTH/AD212n. As you can see, I used to have more money than sense - now I am broke and have a bunch of gear I can't use. Sounds like middle age, to me!

Wow, gws,
Imagine how much gear you'd have accumulated if you could play!
Welcome aboard....

Hello GWS and welcome. New here myself and I am somewhat like you. Started 1 1/2 years ago at age 63. My left hand thought it was in a prison camp. I got a bad case of gas and had quite a few guitars. I kept thinking this or that would help me play better. I call it the "if only" syndrome. I found however the only way to get better is hard work and practice practice practice. I am still not all that great but much better than even last month. My findings are get a guitar you like and you will know it when you pick it up. It just feels right and different than all the other guitars you have tried and play the hell out of it. Ok again welcome...Ed

I just found this site on Google and I am obviously a new member. I originally started learning how to play the guitar when I was 10 years old. After not being able to figure it out, I basically said the heck with it. In June of 2004, I fought a small fire with my bare hands and burned them pretty badly. I never thought that I would have another chance at learning how to play the guitar. In August of last year, I bought a Fender Squier 51 that was practically new and I started learning chords once again. Unfortunately, my grandmother passed away in September and I gave up for a while. In July of this year, I started practicing my chords and now I can play a couple of songs. I have built up quite an arsenal since then and I plan on buying more. Recently, I bought an original 1967 Marshall Cab with three blown speakers for $70! With that deal, I also picked up my Jackson Performer for $10! As you would imagine, she needs to be restored but the neck and body are in great shape! I have a set of EMG Select pickups that will be installed once I get a Soldering Gun. I may even replace the original pots and switch because they look "iffy". I would say that is the best guitar out of my entire collection but I also own a discontinued Kramer Striker 400 ST Flying V with EMG pickups. I paid $20 for that! It has one slight body crack near the neck and the Fender Strat tuning machines do not quite match the headstock but they will do for now. Recently, I bought a Seagull acoustic guitar like new with a hardshell case for only $71! That will soon become my main guitar once I liquidate most of my acoustics on eBay. I also have to decide which electric guitar I want to sell next. I sold my Squier 51 a few months ago for $125 and pretty much broke even. I sold my Samick LS-450 Artist Series for $200 and I kept the hardshell case for my Hondo II Les Paul copy. I have some really nice amps here, including an original 1959 Dean Markley and a Peavey Blazer 158 amp from the early 1990s. The Blazer is my main amp and I love it! I also have a Fender Frontman 15G amp that I never use. That may become another eBay item up for bids. I have been thinking about selling the Markley as well but I am not giving it away. Can you believe that some guy actually tossed her out? True story...
