can someone tell me the suggested pickup heights. i have a 3 pickup black beauty. to measure i have a feeler gauge that measures in metric and (percentage) standard.

I always start out using the "nickel method" and then fine tune until I find a good tone.
Nickel Method: Hold down the E or e String (whish ever side you are working on) on the last fret. Place 2 Nickels under the sting on top of the BASS SIDE of the pickup and adjust until they just fit. Place 1 Nickel under the string on top of the TREBLE SIDE of the pickup and adjust until it just fits.
Remember that if the pickup is closer to the strings you will get more output, but less sustain as the magnets stop the string from vibrating sooner. Farther away Less output, more sustain.
