Hello all...newbie checking in with a question but I should at least say hello and introduce myself first. My name is Mike, I'm 41 years old and live in northwestern, NJ. I began playing guitar around the age of 10 and took lessons for a few years. Played in the usual rock (now called classic rock ) bands and had a ton of fun gigging at local clubs, colleges, high school dances, etc. Since I was the lead singer in every band I was in I never got a chance to fully develop my lead playing ability but I'm trying to reconcile that now.
After finishing school and starting my career I put the guitar down and didn't play for almost 15 years. Then, about 6 months ago, my kids (8, 9) asked me to teach them how to play. I had to relearn before I could start tutoring them so out came the guitar and old lesson books and man it's amazing just how much I forgot. It's been slow going since demands of work and family life leave little time for playing but it is beginning to come back. I'm just working on scales, re-learning the fretboard and having fun playing some old tunes. I really am loving it! I'd forgotten just how much I really loved playing, losing myself for a while just sitting and playing. It really melts away the stress of the workday.
Guitars I currently own;
1977 Gibson Les Paul Custom, 3-pickup Black Beauty.
1959 Sunburst ES-125 (my first electric purchased second hand for $180.00)
Washburn D-46S acoustic (a recent Christmas gift to myself)
Cherry Epi DOT (currently en-route via FedEx and the wife doesn't know about it....yet )
As you probably guessed, the question I have is on the DOT but that's for another forum. Nice board you have here with what seems like a good crew! I lurked a bit before signing up. Actually, you folks here are somewhat responsible for me buying the DOT. I always wanted an archtop and I'm blaming you folks for talking me into it. At least that's the story I'm giving the wife!
That's it for now.
