There are problems with the registering sometimes... what do to with members that don´t post. Is it really that likely that they didn´t get a password though they show up in the member list?

Maybe there should be a note in our welcoming section, to the effect that soon after new Members register they need to make one post to verify that all is working correctly, even if only the traditional, "Hi, I'm new here," to validate their membership. Or perhaps you could set up a thread in a New Members section that everyone should "sign in" on once their registration is complete (and no one else should add to -- can that be done similar to the polls where you can't vote repeatedly?) -- then, after that, if they care to not post again that's their choice and you won't wonder....

I voted "don't know". My thought is that if they never post, lets say over a period of a month with no post then yes. But if they do post but just have not in a while then maybe wait for like 3 or 6 months before they get dropped. I know I loose internet from time to time for a number of reasons and would not want to be dropped if I had not posted for a month or two.

Zac, I meant if they register and don´t post at all... at least everybody should make one post to show he is really there... to validate his account like Ol Geezer said...

Please don't drop them- there may be a valid reason they haven't posted in a while i.e, illness, work, military, etc. I signed on while home after surgery. I was on 2 or more times per day then. Now I have gone back to work and only get on about once a day. Irish Mike

Irish Mike, I think you miss understood. Steel was refuring to member who have trouble with there log in code. The one you get when you first join the board.... By deleteing them they can re-log in, with a new code... By know means, dose Steel wish to delete members simply because they haven't posted in a while.... As for the new members, if the post a (Hi I'm here!) then Steel knows everything is working.....

Exactly that was what I meant... I won´t delete any user only for non posting for a certain period. I only talk about those who registered and never posted just to say "Hi, here I am!" to let us know everything is working.

I don't mind if people just pop in to read, but if you take the time to register at least let us know you are really here.

...geez...I go away for the weekend and look what happens....
...why would anyone register and not post at least to introduce themselves....
...can't they lurk without registering....
...why worry about it...unless it's taking up space on the computer...
...or...are you worried that potential members will be turned away/turned off if their initial registering efforts don't work out right the first time...can't they just re-register....
...I voted...don't know...because I don't....

Since there was no option for "They should be physically hunted down and destroyed", I chose "YES". I know that when I signed up, I didn't realize that the password was going to be emailed to me. I tried to sign in with a chosen password and couldn't get in. Then, I thought that maybe someone had already chosen my user name (I was trying to use "LesPaul"), so I tried again with "KOEPPEL" and had the same problems. At that point I was now registered with two user names. Steelpriest contacted me and got everything straightened out. So, I say that there should be some kind of confirmation message posted in order to keep the member list cleaned up.... man, I talk too much.
