Has anyone played through either one of these amps? The V16 Palomino is a 15w amp very similar to a blues jr. in terms of features. This and the V1512 look the same except the palomino is cream tolex w/ gold trim & a tweed grill front. The V1512 is all black. Except that it cost $100.00 more than the Palomino. Can't figure out why this is. Other than the V16 has a Celsetion & the V1512 has a Tone Tubby speaker. Both are featured on MF. Any insight to these amps will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

The hempconed tone tubby speakers are expensive, that is probably why it is more expensive. The only other difference I can see is that the V1512 has an external speaker jack too. They look interesting.

I had a 1512 recently with the ceramic tonetubby in it. great low end. i found it to be kind of muddy with my guitars. hard to get a clean tone out of it. but if you want gain, its got it for days and it can get loud. i would go for one of the 1512's with a celestion or better yet for about the same money look at one of the new vox ac15's same power rating plus you get a nice tremolo with it. i haven't played one yet myself but have seen one.might be worth a look. i sold my v1512 because at the time i had one of the vfx5112. these are a great bargain and you can find them on ebay for less than $400 all the time. 50 watts tube with effects. and very versatile. you'll find alot of touring big name artists are using these right now. its not a fender clean or chime, but its a nice clean. i got rid of mine because i'm on a fender kick right now and i got a 74 twin reverb (which is way more amp than i need).

I have looked at the Vox Ac15 as well. It is my amp of choice. I was torn between it & the Blues Jr. The Crate appeared in the picture last week. The gain is there on the Crate's thats for sure. I have a feeling I'm going to have to save a while longer & get the Vox. I never though this would be that hard a decision.

I'm very interested in the vox as well. I need a low powered tube amp (100 watts of Marshall tubes is LOUD). Has anyone tried the Vox AC-15 with the alnico blue speaker, and the cheaper version with the wharfdale speaker?
