I tried one, I'm sorry but I wasn't overly impressed... ...all things considered, it was just a quick plug in, the guitar was out of tune(not too bad bu deffinately noticable), and hte settings were a little quickly done and sad. I had a bad first impression, but since i hear good things from you guys, I'll try another one... Have you considered Krank amps??? They are awesome, FULL TUBE, awesome sound, actually SOLID WOOD cab material, and look wicked cool. go to the website and check out hte sound bites, I doubt you'll be dissapointed. Can't go wrong with Marshall though! Aaron

*drool*
Yeah, can't go wrong with Marshall stacks. The AVT150 looks like a good one and not too expensive for a Marshall stack.
Just curious - are you doing some big gigs to need the 150 Watts or do you just like a lot of power?

Both, my little MG30DFX gets drowned out by our drummer, even at full volume, and my band has a show coming up pretty soon, and its going to be really big for a first show.
Plus I like a lot of power ;D

Awesome ;D
But since you have a MG30DFX I gotta ask: how is it for say...for someone like me who doesn't need anything huge and doesn't have a thousand $$$ to spend on an amp? Is it a good amp other than being *quiet* for your tastes?

I say its definatley an awesome amp for playing at home! I remember when I first opened it out of the box and plugged it in, I couldn't stop playing it! The clean channel is really good, clear as a bell. The distortion is lacking a little im my opinion, but its still pretty good nontheless. It comes with built in effects (reverb, delay, chorus, and flange) and those are always fun to mess around with. If you're looking for a great amp that wont put a hole in you pocket, then I definatley reccomend the MG30DFX.

I think it is possible in my opinion to go wrong with Marshall, but only if you don't like their voicings. I prefer Class A power amps, and think the solid state , even with a pre amp tube, is just too thin and harsh. My friend played through a Valve State for three years, and I never got to like the tone. I would rather have a good solid state preamp coupled with a tube power amp.

Hmmm... a 150 Watts mosfet power amp should not sound "that" thin... I had a 100 Watts Marshall 8100 Valvestate head, it was very okay and it sounded really like a Marshall... not like a tube head, but very very okay... P.S.: It was a spare amp. Nowadays I use a 500 watts Trace Elliot solidstate poweramp... no more tubes! ;D Sounds quite massive...

Ahhh I had a half day at school today, so I got tons of playing in Now heres my review- Clean Channel 9/10- The clean channel is really great! Very clean and sharp, it comes with a gain knob so you can get those nice bluesy tones, and a bright switch to brighten the sound. Acoustic Simulator 7.5/10- Not exactly how I thought it would sound, but still pretty good! You can't really tell the difference between it and the clean channel on the E A and D strings, but you can definatley get nice acoustic sounds from it on the G B and high E strings. OD1- 9/10- Really, really good! Has that really nice "crunch" sound. Sounds just like a Marshall half stack should! Has just the right amount of distortion, gave a whole new sound to my les paul! Very sharp, and no major feedback problems. Sounds real nice at lower volumes, and even better at high volumes! OD2- 8.5/10- not very different from OD1, except that it sounds to be more bassy. I keep the scoop switch on when i play on this channel. You get a real nice low, scooped sound. Cab- 10/10 - just what you would expect out of a Marshall cab. The Celestions sound perfect! Whenever I get the money I plan to get the straight cab and finally have a Marshall stack! Effects- 10/10- These have to be the best built in effects I have ever heard on an amp. You can really tell that Marshall put a lot of time and effort into making them sound perfect! Theres 16 of them altogether. I could mess around with these forever. Overall- 9/10- I have no regrets at all about buying this amp! At full volume you can just feel the power flowing right through you! I would definatley reccomend this, or any other amp from the AVT range to everybody!

Sounds amazing dude! I just gotta ask, since we're the same age....How the hell did you save up that money and more importantly how did u get ur parents to not kick you out for *cough* "wasting your money" *cough*?
Please give me the secret to smooth talking parents ;D

;D LOL, those parents... It took me a long time to convince my father that cheap gear is waste of money often, but buying a certain quality standard saves money in the long run... I even managed to persuade him to buy me a Gibson "Spirit" (kind of Les Paul DC) when I was 17 or 18 years old...
