Nice new piece, SP ! I bet the flabby feel is due to the 9-42 string set. Some 10-46 might not be too tight to bend well, and give it more body.

No, Mandough... 009-042 are just fine for me. I did not say I wouldn´t like the flabby feel,... well, I like it alot. Think it must be because of the real thin neck.

Woooa.. That is one hairy axe! Not exactly my cup of tea, but I guess if you're a hairmetalman, it floats your boat BTW: Laney amps? good? bad? on another note, in norwegian, 'hard' and 'hair' are pronounced very similarly, so hard-rock, would appropriately(for the 80s at least) be hair-rock

The first guitar of this kind I bought from a guy I met in person, the second now I bought on Ebay... hopefully it is of the same quality like the other one. Here´s a pic from the Ebay site. Can´t wait to hold it in my hands. By the way: ESP manufactured a guitar with this body shape for Akira Takasaki of LOUDNESS (legendary metal band from Japan) in the 80´s. It was known as a Akira Takasaki custom model. @jeje: I like this Laney (as well equipped with Celestions) cabinet series better than the current Marshall ones. I also had a Laney VC50 full tube combo plus an additional 2x12" cabinet back in the day. Laney is like Marshall a reliable product from english manufactures and soundwise not so different. You can´t go wrong with Marshall, and can´t go wrong with LANEY.

sweet guitar. Was the guy close so you could check it out first ? That's a rare situation with ebay.
Does Laney make a 212 cabinet. I just got a 50 watt all tube Crate that i'm liking more and more ...have to warm that puppy up at least once a day and play. Have been thinking of getting an extension cabinet for it. Thinking of a 2x12. It requires 16 ohms. I'm more of a blues and rock player. Can you suggest a cab that would compliment it. I looked at a used Mesa Boogie 2x12 they had a GC. They wanted $400.

The guy from whom I bought the first guitar with the zebra desing was very close, about 30 minutes away... I met him, checked out the guitar and handed out the money... ;D The second now is from a different part of Germany and I have to wait until it is shipped... I haven´t made my mind up yet... I talked to the seller that he has to wait a couple of days for the payment (haven´t paid yet...), because I am not sure about about sending the guitar with UPS. Maybe I will drive over next sunday or monday... It´s about a 4 hours drive...

Well... today it was delivered! It´s in pretty neat condition, some minor dings and dongs... but the Kahler vibrato is totally dissembled and it will be lots of work to adjust it correctly. *sigh* And the mini 3 way toggle is defective obviously, all in all minor things that need some care and require time. But I won´t be the Steelpriest no more if I was not able to straighten things out. But yes, it is my first lesson learned how things can turn out when you buy on Ebay. If I had checked the guitar in a store a I would have told the dealer to set the things straight, but now it´s my turn to spend some hours of work. But all in all the guitar is okay, hardly any fretwear and the overall conditions is pretty more than decent for a guitar from the mid/late 80´s. Edit: Well, the vibrato was defective. A pal and I fixed it, so now I have a Kahler non vibrato system, lol. ;D I took of the strings and took out the whole vibrato system, my pal who runs a business in metal working drilled a hole through the groundplate and we locked the whole thing with a trusty screw. It does no more vibrate, lol... now I have a non-vibrato guitar with lock nut and fine tuners. It don´t bother me at all, but yes... beware if you buy on Ebay. If I had bought that guitar for a special purpose (doing wild vibratos, hehehe) it would have turned out in a pretty disappointment, but I don´t "vibrate" that much, so what the heck... The toggle switch is okay after some use of contact spray. All in all it is the same guitar like the other guitar I bought first. Same sound, same feel, only a different look, ...very lovely. Again a good deal.

I managed to dig up an old catalogue from 1987, woohoo! The guitars are indeed made of philiphine mahoghany... body and neck... From the way they sound, I expected nothing different, now I got the proof.
