Ok I have flipped through this thing a dozen times without giving it the time of day. But today I just had to sit there and hear some of fertilizer this guy is spreading.
Question 1 :: Has anyone else seen this info-mercial of Esteban and his American Legacy guitars?
This guy needs to be stopped. I may be the only one, but I have never heard of this "Esteban" or can I find anything on line about him or his guitars other than "AS SEEN ON TV".
Question 2:: Has anyone actually seen or played one, know anything about, or know someone who has bought one of these guitars?
I for one have not.
Question 3:: Can anyone identify the so called $5800.00 guitar they show, that this cheap guitar is supposedly modeled after.
I was watching the thing on a small TV and couldn't get a good look.
Ok yes I know all info-mercials are full o crap. But the blatant lies passed off by these Esteban Guitar folks should be grounds for false advertising. I mean come on can you imagine being a kid and wanting your first guitar, and having Mom and Dad talked into a epi Special II gig rig or the SG player pack and end up with the Esteban American Legacy gift of guitar because Mom watches too much shopping channel? What a crap Christmas that would be.
And this little amp that they say, and I quote "has brilliant sound and is loud enough to play along with anybody. And by hitting this little overdrive button you can sound like Metallica and any of those other bands." He didn't sound like Metallica and nethier will you. That amp may be loud enough to play along with anybody you are listening to on your clock radio but come on now. And third, you can't make an amp that small sound brilliant unless you hook it into a bigger amp.
How do they get away selling this (for lack of a better term) rig that way?

Even in Germany this guy from your shopping channels is known. If I get it right they are trying to sell guitars for 79 $ or something like that claiming these guitars can compete with all the good brands. Recently I read a german metal magazine and if I remember right it was Gene Simmons of Kiss made who joked about this Esteban guy... But seriously: This guy needs to be stopped. Here in Germany "comparing" advertisements were forbidden. They are allowed meanwhile, so it would be well able for a company to say: "My product is better than the product of that company". But: you would have to prove it, otherwise you would face a nice lawsuit. We had that before here (mobile phones, fast food restaurants, etc.). We as guitarplayers have the knowledge and we maybe can laugh about things like the Esteban Legacy guitar, but you are right, Zac! The ignorant, the newbees, all those parents of kids that desire an electric guitar are misled. Not only misled, they are cheated. I wonder how this can be possible? Here in Europe the USA is known as the land of "everybody´s sueing everybody" ;D, so why doesn´t Gibson or Fender have the balls to sue this Esteban company? I´d like to see that commercial. Maybe I can find it on a file sharing program like win-mx. Maybe someone of you knows another source where it might be hosted on a website. I heard it must be pure comedy. ;D Dangerous comedy...

Okay guys, here`s some more fodder for the Esteban flame. He has been featured on the "Home Shopping Network" ( www.hsn.com ) for a few years now, that I can recall. From time to time they show him "playing" his music and claiming his $79 guitar is IDENTICAL to the $10,000 instrument he is holding in his hands. He just wants to sell you the P.O.S., and teach his method/style to you, so you also can enjoy music from a player`s perspective. My own $.02 is this; My wife and I manage to visit the HSN Outlet Store in Orlando, Florida, fairly often. ( she has an Ebay site ) We first went there back in September 2004. At that time they had one of Esteban`s classical guitars in stock. Naturally, while she was shopping around, I picked up the guitar and started fiddling around with it. WHAT A ROYAL PIECE OF S**T THAT THING WAS!!! the action had to be at least 1/2" high at the 12th fret, and 1/4 " at the nut. Well, we went back again last week, and it`s still there. No big surprise to that. If someone gave me one of those guitars, I would promptly burn it, or at least plant some flowers in it!

OMG I didn't even know he made an electric. All I could find on line was the AS SEEN ON TV crap about that fire wood acoustic. The only other thing I could find that even mentioned Esteban Guitars was a comparison to PEAL Guitars www.guitarimports.com/comparison-esteban.htm I was not impressed with Peal either but at least they are a real guitar manufacturer or maybe they just import them and slap a Peal sticker on. Either way I bet they beat Esteban Guitars.

It is in such poor taste that it is indeed comical. The lady who is interviewing him is soooooo fake. Everything he plays, she acts like that was her favorite song at one time. Then she gets this far away look in her eyes like his music is capturing her very soul. And Ill be damned if he don't play "House of the Rising Sun" at least twice and gets that reaction out of her. Then he plays an awful version of "Love me Tender" that would be completely impossible to recognize if it weren't for the band behind him and the fiddle player carrying the melody while he does some flamenco sounding crap all over the top of it. And if that weren't enough, they keep showing people who are giving testimonial to his product and teaching style who are not even hitting the strings while the are supposed to be playing what they have learned from his method. Utter tomfoolery. I could go on, but I feel it would be a waste of time and effort. This thing runs it's self into the ground without anymore help from me. Zac

Oh yeah. Thats some funny stuff. 9 out of 10 people are just plain pissed off about getting ripped off. Then there are a few who either don't know what they are saying, or work for Esteban, or maybe Esteban himself. It's better than the funny papers. Zac

i agree that these guitars are a bunch of junk. A "friend" or so i thought, and his sister both got one. The guitar is the clangiest sounding thing in the world, the inlay is crooked and swerved all over the place. It dont stay in tune, and the tuners rattle. The amp is a COMPLETE joke too. I plugged the best washburn you could get into this amp, it still sounded like crap. It dont get loud enough to play with a clock radio, and the distortion, and i apologize for the way i put this, sounds worse than an old man farting. If any of you ever think about getting this guitar, you should be put in an insane asylum and seperated from the entire world.
