When I was around 16 or 17, I got a guitar that I learned to strum and sing along to. Nothing special, just a few chords and some songs my friends taught me. "Serious" life started in College, then work and the guitar just fell into a deep black hole in the closet, never to resurface. Now at 47, I want to learn to PLAY. Although that first guitar was forgotten, the desire to learn wasn't.
My schedule doesn't permit me classes but I think by years end I can start squeezing them in on Saturday mornings. What I've learned so far has been from the Internet, magazines, books, DVDs... you name it!
Like a typical newbie, I bought waaaaay to much gear but have managed to sell most of it off. ;D I'll probably just end up keeping 2 guitars, 2 amps and one pedal; an Epi LP Plus, an Ibanez Artist, a Fender Blues Jr. , a Yamaha DG60fx and a Tube Screamer.
So that's where I am and ANY help is always welcome, which is why I joined this forum.

I started playing not even two years ago, when I was almost 17. I started on my sister's nyon string acoustic. She had got it for christmas baout 6 years ago and never really played on it. Over time I got more oand more intersted in music and in fact it was the Beatles stuff that finally made me pick up my sister's guitar and strum a few chords on it. now i've had classical lessons for about a year. My first electric i got for christmas 2002, one and a half years ago. It's a Squier Bullet Strat. I didn't know anything about electric guitars back then, just enjoyed playing it. last december I bought a used epi les paul standard (made in korea, samick i think, 1995). Now I can't say I'm really good or anything, but I'm better than a few other guys I know who have been playing longer than I. Along with my Squier Strat came a Crate 15 Watts Amp, nice little amp. Some time last summer I bought one those little Vox amps, the Pathfinder 15 with Reverb. Quite a different sound, and quite nice, really. Now if/when my Lennon Casino finally arrives I'll have my first american made, higher end guitar, but I'll tell you about that when i have it. This summer i will probably buy an Epi EJ160E cause i dont have a steel string acoustic so far. Only thing left is a better amp. Maybe later this year. Ive been thinking about the 30 Watts Vox Valvetronix. But I'd rather have a real tube amp. I'll check with the local store.
So that's my story..... :-)
