I wonder how many of you use different tunings than the standard E tuning? Anyone here who tunes "dropped D" or maybe tunes his guitar to Eb? Maybe some of you use open tunings? I am just curious! ;D Well, I use standard tuning E - E and on some songs I use a "dropped D" tuning.

Same here standard E and dropped D. But I am looking at some slide work at this very minute that uses all different kinds of tunings. I will keep ya posted.

I've got one Les Paul tuned to a drop D because of the ease of play when doing power chords with ample distortion. As for the other LP, it's standard tuning. Now I just have to remember my fingering with each guitar....

Well.. Since I (well my brother) only have a single electronic tuner I haven't been able to use other tunings... yet.
So for me its always that "Easter Bunnies Get Drunk At Easter"

Hi Uriah, a bit off topic, but reading something about electronic tuners I have to suggest you try to tune the guitar only with your ears... I mean not stick a tuner wing in your ear and wrap the guitar round your head, lol... what I mean, it is a nice exercise to tune the A string to A and have the other strings tuned by judging with your ears only. It´s not that difficult to tune a guitar to an open chord without having a tuner handy. I remember when I was young electronic tuners were expensive and I loved to buy beer and LP records, I was always too close fisted and stingy to buy a tuner. All I had back in those days was a tuning fork and it worked very well...

I play almost exclusively in standard because I don't like to change around much
About tuners, I use a program I found from musiciansfriend (I think thats where it came from) to tune with sometimes, although its not portable...Electronic tuners are good though, and there's plenty of inexpensive ones out there now.

I tune to Eb and then drop to Db. As soon as I buy a new guitar, I take it to my tech for the porper setup.

Wouldn't using a capo have the same effect as a different tuning?

Wouldn't using a capo have the same effect as a different tuning? No it would not do the same as a different tuneing. A capo just raises the key or register you are playing in. If you use an open tuning it allows you to strum a chord without placing your fingers on the strings. A droped D allows you to make a barr chord with the E string and A string with one finger same fret. Hope that helps.
