I have an Epi LP Standard Bass, which is a great instrument. Right now it's in a gig bag but I'm thinking of getting a hard case for it. Since the Epi case is pretty expensive, I may try to get a different case by SKB, TKL, or some other brand. Do any of you know if this bass fits the "standard" electric bass case? (They always tell you if Fenders fit 'em...) Thanks.

If a LP bass guitar follows the design of a Les Paul electric guitar, what means angled neck plus angled headstock you will likely be in trouble finding any "standard bass" case to suit the Les Paul bass... By the way, SKB is pretty expensive also... In my opinion a gig bag is brilliant... it´s cheap, it´s light, and as long you carry your guitar/bass yourself it works fine. I transport my guitars only in gigbags as well in the backseat of my car... Well, as soon as roadie hands clutch at your instruments you are in need of a case, but in most cases for most people being "hobby musicians" or "part time semi-pros" *g* a gig bag is pretty okay... just my opinion! By the way, WELCOME ABOARD, az123! ;D

Helpful? Really? That means I saved you some money and you stay with the gig bag?

It was helpful in reducing my thinking to two choices of of gigbag versus the Epiphone case. I'll probably keep using a gigbag, as I do for my electric guitars. The hard case idea is still in my mind, though, as the LP Standard bass dings up pretty easily and I might want more protection for it. I'd rather not pay $80 for the hard case, though... Thanks again for the input!
