That´s what I always say: Judge a guitar with your ears and fingers, not by it´s price or it´s brand name. 
I even found Gibsons (no Les Pauls, but Flying Vs and Explorers) in a guitar store that were slightly sloppy made, I wouldn´t except this in the 500 $ range, so I would never expect this in higher price ranges.
