Well, I voted metal distortion, but classic 80´s metal distortion, no nu-metal distortion! ;D Ditto. Some of the new stuff sounds good but there's nothin' like classic distortion; the likes of Maiden, Priest and the man himself, Randy Rhoads. I just gave my age away, didn't I? ;D

am i the only one here who really likes nu-metal? bummer. well i go with full dist, full gain on a distorted amp. like the rest of you i was raised on maiden (mostly bruce era but some pre bruce) and early metallica, ala Dave Mustaine. oh and of course black sabbath, but didnt these guys like Roads , Iomi, and Mustaine forge the metal that we hear today. long live the ever evolving spirit of heavy metal.
really, dillon
P.S. I also play Takimine and Ibanez acoustics. so im not totally tone deaf! lol

for me classic overdirve would the kind of sound you get when you turn your good ole tube amp up a little too much.... just that littel touch of dirtyness in your clean sound...

Hmm... I have my gain on full. And on that amp it is what I call classic overdrive. Cause it's not so much gain as a fully gained peavey bandit or whatever. I guess it means different things for everybody.
