This is probably from before your time, but "Bennie and the Jets" on Elton John's Goodbye Yellow Brick Road LP started out as a studio recording that was too sterile and plain until they got the idea of mixing-in crowd noise to make it appear "recorded live." Some of the screams are from a Jimi Hendrix concert....
